Front Brake Pad Set – 7021-D45M

The 7021-D45M is a critical safety component for your Volkswagen's front disc brake system. Because the front brakes provide approximately 70% of a vehicle's stopping power, using a high-quality pad is vital for avoiding brake fade during mountain descents or emergency stops.

This set includes all four pads required to service both the driver and passenger side front calipers.

Detailed Vehicle Compatibility

VW Bus (Type 2):

  • 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979

VW Vanagon (Air-Cooled & Water-Cooled):

  • 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985

Product Highlights & Features

  • Low-Dust Formula: Designed to keep your wheels cleaner for longer compared to traditional high-metal content pads.

  • Thermal Scorched: Many D45M pads are "scorched" during manufacturing to promote a faster "bed-in" process, meaning they reach full braking effectiveness shortly after installation.

Technical Specifications

  • Part Number: 7021-D45M (D195)

  • Material: Semi-Metallic

  • Quantity: 4 Pads (Front Axle Set)

  • Caliper Compatibility: Fits Standard Factory Disc Calipers

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Check Your Rotors: Never install new pads on heavily grooved or "blue" (overheated) rotors. For the best performance and pad life, have your Brake Rotors (73-79, 80-85) resurfaced or replaced at the same time.

  • Lube the Slide Pins: When the caliper is open, clean and lubricate the caliper slide pins with high-temperature brake grease. Seized pins are the leading cause of uneven pad wear and "pulling" to one side during braking.

  • The "Bed-In" Procedure: To ensure a long service life, perform a series of moderate stops from 35 mph down to 5 mph immediately after installation. This transfers a thin layer of friction material to the rotor, which prevents "glazing."
