Verify Fender Clearance and Suspension Travel

When jumping up to a 17x7 inch wheel, you are significantly increasing the footprint of your vehicle. While the 5-1/2 inch backspacing is designed to help with fitment, we highly recommend checking your tie-rod clearance and inner fender wells, especially if your VW is significantly lowered. If you are running a narrowed beam on a Beetle, ensure that your tire selection doesn''t cause interference with the headlight buckets or the inner wheel arches during full-lock turns. A low-profile tire is usually necessary to maintain the proper rolling diameter and prevent rubbing.
