VW Engine Front Crankshaft Seal – 06L-103-085-B
Protect your engine's health and prevent messy oil leaks with this Genuine VW Front Crankshaft Seal. Also referred to as a timing cover seal, this critical component is located at the front of the engine where the crankshaft exits the block. It allows the crankshaft to rotate freely while maintaining an oil-tight seal, ensuring that vital lubrication stays inside the crankcase.
The 06L-103-085-B is the latest factory revision, replacing older part numbers 06H-103-085-G and 06L-103-085. Manufactured to strict OEM standards, this seal is designed to withstand high thermal loads and constant mechanical rotation. Replacing a leaking seal promptly is vital to prevent oil from contaminating your drive belts or causing low oil pressure conditions.

Installation & Maintenance Tips Clean the Shaft: Before installing the new seal, ensure the crankshaft surface is free of any burrs, nicks, or old rubber residue. Even a tiny scratch can cause a brand-new seal to leak.
Use a Seal Driver: For an even, square installation, use a specialized seal driver tool. Tapping the seal in with a hammer can cause it to sit at an angle, leading to immediate failure.
Check the Timing Cover: This seal is often included with a new front timing cover. If your timing cover is warped or the sealant has failed, replacing just the seal may not stop the leak.
Lubrication: Lightly coat the inner lip of the seal with fresh engine oil before sliding it over the crankshaft to prevent "dry start" damage to the rubber.
