VW Bus Front Lower Torsion Arm Bump Stop – 211-401-263A

The Lower Bump Stop (or snubber) is specifically designed to cushion the suspension when it fully extends (rebound). While the upper stop handles compression from bumps, the lower stop prevents the suspension arms from "clanking" at the bottom of their travel.

Like the upper versions, these are made of heavy-duty rubber that eventually perishes, leading to a noisy and unrefined ride. Replacing these alongside your upper stops is the best way to fully restore your front end's factory feel.

Detailed Vehicle Compatibility These lower stops fit continuously across the following years:

  • VW Bus (Type 2): 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979

Product Highlights & Features

  • Rebound Protection: Dampens the downward movement of the lower trailing arms to protect ball joints and shocks.

  • Specific Design: Features a different shape than the upper stop to fit the lower mounting point correctly.

  • Durable Material: Constructed from oil-resistant elastomer to withstand road grime and environmental wear.

  • Standard Replacement: Direct replacement for OEM part number 211-401-263A.

Technical Specifications

  • Part Number: 211-401-263A

The VW Lower Rubber Bump Stop is a high-quality replacement option made to original specifications. For those doing a complete overhaul, the Bump Stop for the Front Lower Trailing Arm is another reliable choice. Don't forget to replace you Upper Stops (Part # 211-401-253) while you're there!

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Reuse Your Hardware: These use the exact same Retaining Clips (211-401-279) as the upper stops. Ensure you have a total of four clips to complete the entire front beam.

  • Clean the Seat: Use a wire brush to remove old rubber bits and rust from the "cup" on the axle beam before popping the new stop in.

  • Complete the Set: If you are already working on the lower stops, it is a great time to inspect your lower ball joints and torsion arm seals for wear or leaks.
