Weld-On Engine Tin Mounting Tabs – 00-3359-0
The EMPI 00-3359-0 tabs are a specialized solution for air-cooled VW owners who have removed their factory heat exchangers. On a stock engine, the lower "sled" tins (which protect the pushrod tubes and direct cooling air) bolt directly to the heater boxes. When you switch to J-tubes or aftermarket headers, you lose those mounting points.
These tabs are engineered to be welded onto your exhaust or bracketry, providing a threaded or secure hole to bolt your tinware back into place. Keeping your engine tins securely mounted is not just about looks—it is critical for managing cylinder head temperatures by ensuring the hot air is forced out the rear of the vehicle.

Installation & Maintenance Tips
-
Surface Prep: Since these are weld-on parts, ensure the mounting surface on your exhaust is ground down to bare metal to ensure a clean, deep-penetrating weld.
-
Test Fit First: Mock up your lower engine tins with the engine in the car (if possible) to find the exact placement before welding the tabs permanently.
-
Rust Prevention: After welding, be sure to paint or coat the tabs and the surrounding weld area with high-temp paint to prevent rust.
