Permatex Dielectric Tune-Up Grease – 81150
The 81150 Dielectric Grease is an essential "chemical tool" for maintaining the electrical health of any vintage vehicle. Unlike standard grease, dielectric grease is an insulator; its job is not to conduct electricity, but to seal the connection point from the environment. In the exposed engine bay of a Beetle or Bus, moisture and road grime can quickly degrade electrical contacts. Applying a small amount of this silicone compound ensures that once you make a connection, it stays clean and protected.
This 9-gram tube is the perfect size for a single major tune-up or for keeping in a glovebox emergency kit. It is safe for use on all rubber, plastic, and metal electrical components.

Installation & Maintenance Tips
-
Proper Application: Do not coat the actual metal contact faces heavily; instead, apply the grease to the surrounding rubber boot or the exterior of the connection to seal out air and water.
-
Battery Terminals: After cleaning your battery posts, a thin coat of this grease will prevent the white acid fuzz (sulfation) from returning.
-
Bulb Sockets: When installing new turn signal or brake light bulbs, a small dab in the socket will prevent the bulb from "freezing" in place due to corrosion.
