Super Beetle Master Cylinder – 113-611-015HDK

The 113-611-015HDK is the primary hydraulic component for the 1971–1979 Super Beetle braking system. Because the Super Beetle uses a different front-end layout than the standard Beetle, the brake line routing and master cylinder clearance are distinct. Using the correct "H" version ensures that your brake lines align perfectly without tension and that the cylinder seats correctly against the pedal cluster pushrod.

This dual-circuit unit is essential for maintaining the safety of your vehicle. It separates the front and rear systems, ensuring that if a wheel cylinder or brake hose fails, you will still have 50% of your braking capacity to bring the car to a safe stop.

Detailed Vehicle Compatibility

VW Super Beetle:

  • 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979

Product Highlights & Features

  • Precision Casting: High-quality iron casting with a treated bore to resist corrosion and pitting from moisture in the brake fluid.

  • Plug-and-Play Installation: Fits directly into the stock location using the original mounting bolts and brake line fittings.

  • Safety Tested: Each unit is pressure-tested to ensure leak-free performance under emergency braking loads.

Technical Specifications

  • Part Number: 113-611-015HDK

  • Bore Diameter: 19.05mm

  • Circuitry: Dual Circuit (Front/Rear split)

  • Ports: M10 x 1.0 Threaded Ports

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Bench Bleeding: It is vital to bench bleed this master cylinder before installation. Air trapped in the internal primary and secondary pistons can be extremely difficult to purge once the unit is mounted in the car.

  • Grommet Inspection: When replacing the master cylinder, check the blue or black reservoir feed hose. If they are hard or cracked, replace them to prevent brake fluid from leaking onto your chassis paint.

  • Brake Fluid Choice: Use only high-quality DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid. Never use silicone-based DOT 5 fluid unless your entire system has been specifically converted for it, as it can cause seal swelling in standard components.
