This 100% new stock replacement Type 1 Steering Box is a direct fit unit for 62-77 Standard Beetles, 62-74 Karmann Ghias, 62-73 Type 3s and 73-74 Things. This replacement steering box is a 24mm, "small shaft" unit and will fit the 62 and later pitman arms as well as the 17-2566-0 or 17-2567-0 replacement pitman arms. If you have a 1961 and earlier model Bug or Ghia you need to use the 17-2566-0 (62 to 68 Pitman Arm) to install this box in place of the early style large shaft steering box. For reference, the input shaft size is 16mm/62 spline.
