VW Oil Pressure Switch

The VW Oil Pressure Switch is responsible for operating the oil-pressure warning light on your speedometer. It threads into the engine case or oil cooler and is triggered at approximately 3 PSI. If the oil-pressure light is illuminated, it means your engine pressure has dropped below that threshold.

This switch is compatible with both 6‑volt and 12‑volt systems, and fits the following Volkswagen models:

• 1954–1979 Beetles

• 1956–1974 Karmann Ghias

• 1955–1979 Type 2 Buses

• 1962–1973 Type 3s

• 1973–1974 Things

• 1980–1983 Vanagons
