VW & Audi Heavy Duty Clutch Release Bearing – 113-141-165BEU

Ensure smooth, reliable gear engagement with the Heavy Duty Clutch Release (Throw-Out) Bearing. This "late-style" guided bearing is designed for air-cooled and water-cooled Volkswagens and Audis equipped with a guide tube on the transmission input shaft. Unlike early-style unguided bearings, this version provides significantly improved stability and reduced chatter, making it an essential upgrade for high-performance builds or standard daily drivers.

As a high-wear component, the release bearing is often the culprit behind "whirring" noises or vibrations when the clutch pedal is depressed. This reinforced version features high-tensile internal races and premium lubrication to withstand the heat and pressure of modern driving conditions, particularly in vehicles with upgraded pressure plates.

Detailed Vehicle Compatibility This bearing is a universal fit for the following models continuously across these years:

  • 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977

Product Highlights & Features Guided Design: Engineered for use with a 113-141-181A guide sleeve, ensuring the bearing travels in a perfectly straight line for consistent pedal feel.

Heavy Duty Construction: Features reinforced metal clips and high-grade internal bearings to prevent the premature failure common with lower-quality "budget" replacements.

Sealed Lubrication: Pre-packed with high-temperature grease designed to last the entire life of the clutch kit without requiring maintenance.

Multi-Platform Compatibility: A versatile part that fits a wide range of vintage VW air-cooled engines and early water-cooled Audi drivetrain configurations.

Technical Specifications Part Number: 113-141-165BEU

Application: Clutch Release (Throw-Out) Mechanism

Style: Late Style (Guided)

Finish: Natural Steel

Installation & Maintenance Tips Inspect the Guide Tube: Always check your transmission's guide sleeve for burrs or wear marks. If the guide tube is scored, the bearing will bind; replace it with Part #113-141-181A for best results.

Replace as a Set: It is industry standard to replace the release bearing every time the engine is pulled or the clutch disc is replaced. The labor to get to this part is far more expensive than the part itself.

Check the Operating Arm: Ensure the clips that hold the bearing to the cross-shaft operating arm are secure. If these clips are loose, the bearing can slip out of alignment, leading to uneven wear on the pressure plate fingers.

Avoid "Riding" the Clutch: To maximize the life of your new bearing, avoid keeping your foot on the clutch pedal at stoplights. Constant pressure causes the bearing to spin at high speeds, leading to heat buildup and eventual failure.
