Installation & Maintenance Tips

• Timing the 009: Unlike vacuum distributors that are timed at idle, a 009 should be timed at "Total Advance." Rev the engine until the timing stops advancing (usually around 3000-3500 RPM) and set your timing to 28-30 degrees BTDC.

• Drive Gear Alignment: When dropping the distributor in, ensure the offset dog on the bottom of the shaft aligns perfectly with the drive gear in the engine block. Never force it down; it should seat flush with light pressure.

• Static Timing: If you must time it while the engine is off, start at 7.5 to 10 degrees BTDC to get the car running before fine-tuning with a strobe light.
