Fuel Sender Seal Kit – 113-998-133
The 113-998-133 is a critical maintenance item for any air-cooled VW restoration or fuel system service. Because the fuel sender is located at the top of the tank, the original cork or rubber gaskets eventually dry out and shrink, leading to "seepage" when the tank is full or when driving on inclines. This kit restores the factory seal, protecting your paint and ensuring your fuel system remains pressurized and safe.
This kit is designed for the standard 5-screw sender units found on the vast majority of air-cooled Beetles. It provides a much more reliable seal than old-fashioned cork gaskets, which tend to weep over time.

Installation & Maintenance Tips
-
Clean the Surface: Before installing the new seals, use a Scotch-Brite pad or fine sandpaper to clean the mounting surface on the fuel tank. Any rust or old gasket residue will prevent a proper seal.
-
Star Pattern Tightening: When tightening the screws on the fuel sender, use a "star pattern" (similar to tightening lug nuts). This ensures even pressure across the gasket and prevents the sender flange from warping.
-
Safety First: Always perform this installation in a well-ventilated area with the battery disconnected to avoid any risk from fuel vapors.
