The 90 amp internally regulated alternator can be used on 61-77 Standard Beetles, 71-79 Super Beetles, 60-71 Type 2 Bus models and 73-74 Things. The wiring for the alternator has to be modified as this alternator is internally regulated. 1966 and earlier models that are still 6-volt will require a different stand, backing plate and pulley as the 6 volt units are not compatible with the alternator. 1967 and later models that use a generator may have to swap the stand as the stock generator stand can not be used with the an alternator.

• If your VW has an externally regulated alternator, it will not be reused and your wiring must be modified. • If your VW has a generator, the original voltage regulator for it must be removed and the wiring for it must be modified.
