VW Fuel Tank Outlet Kit (Without Filter) – 111-298-221A
The 111-298-221A is a specialized hardware kit designed to restore the gravity-fed fuel connection at the base of your Volkswagen’s fuel tank. This kit is specifically the "no-filter" version, intended for owners who already have a clean internal screen or are utilizing a high-flow setup with an external filtration system. It replaces the critical union that connects your internal pick-up tube to the external fuel line, providing a reliable, leak-free foundation for your entire fuel system.
Often referred to as the "fuel tank spigot" or "outlet tap," this assembly is a common source of persistent gasoline smells and dangerous leaks if the original nut is stripped or the sealing washer has perished. The 111-298-221A is precision-machined with the correct M22 x 1.5 metric threads to ensure a perfect fit into factory and reproduction fuel tanks, maintaining the original 6mm fuel delivery volume required for stock carbureted engines.

Product Highlights & Features 3-Piece Restoration Set: Includes the elbow-style outlet pipe, the securing union nut, and the specialized fiber or copper sealing washer.
Standard 6mm Spigot: Sized perfectly for the factory-spec 5mm or 5.5mm internal diameter fuel hoses used on stock air-cooled engines.
Elbow Design: Features the correct angled bend to prevent the fuel hose from kinking against the chassis or hanging too low beneath the tank.
High-Flow Compatibility: This kit is less restrictive than the early "reserve tap" style valves, making it an excellent upgrade for performance engines over 100hp.
Technical Specifications Part Number: 111-298-221A
Thread Size: M22 x 1.5
Outlet Size: 6mm (Standard)
Contents: (1) Outlet Pipe, (1) Nut, (1) Sealing Washer
Installation & Maintenance Tips Check Your Filter: While this kit does not include the internal screen, you should never install it without one. If your existing filter is torn or missing, you must also install part number 111-209-147A to protect your fuel pump.
Hand-Thread First: Always start the large M22 nut by hand to ensure it is not cross-threaded into the soft metal of the fuel tank bung.
Don't Over-Tighten: The sealing washer does the work. Tighten the nut until it is snug; over-torquing can crush the washer or strip the threads on the tank, which is a difficult and expensive repair.
Inspect the Hose: Since the fuel tank must be drained to install this kit, it is the ideal time to replace your main Fuel Feed Hose and install a new In-Line Fuel Filter under the tank area.
