2 pc Ignition Breaker Points – 01-001 / KS 039

Ensure your vintage engine starts reliably and idles smoothly with this premium set of Ignition Breaker Points. As a critical component of the early Bosch-style ignition systems, these points act as the mechanical trigger for your ignition coil. Over time, the contact surfaces can become pitted or "blued" from electrical arcing, resulting in a weak spark, poor fuel economy, and difficult cold starts.

These points are manufactured to meet the rigorous demands of both air-cooled Volkswagens and high-performance Porsche engines. Featuring a precision-ground contact set and a durable rubbing block, they provide the consistent dwell and timing accuracy required for optimal engine performance. Replacing your points is a foundational part of any classic vehicle tune-up.

Product Highlights & Features Precision Contact Surface: High-conductivity tungsten-alloy tips ensure a clean electrical break for maximum spark intensity.

Vintage Porsche Compatibility: Engineered to handle the higher RPM ranges often associated with Porsche 356 and 912 distributors.

Phenolic Rubbing Block: Built with heat-resistant materials to prevent premature wear and maintain a consistent point gap over thousands of miles.

Direct Fitment: Designed to match the footprint of original Bosch early-style distributors for a seamless installation.

Technical Specifications Part Number: 01-001 (Cross-ref: KS 039)

Application: Ignition Distributor Internal Points

Gap Setting: 0.016" (0.4mm)

Contact Material: Steel / Tungsten Alloy

Installation & Maintenance Tips Clean the Contacts: It is essential to clean the new points before installation. Pull a clean piece of cardstock through the closed contacts to remove any protective oils that could cause immediate burning.

Lubricate the Cam: Apply a very small amount of high-temperature distributor grease to the distributor cam lobes. This prevents the rubbing block from wearing down and closing the gap.

Check Timing: Any adjustment to the point gap directly affects your ignition timing. Always re-set your timing to factory specifications after installing new points.

Static or Dynamic: While a feeler gauge gets you close, using a dwell meter while the engine is running (or cranking) provides the most accurate setting for these points.
