Fuel Pressure Regulator – PR134 / 022-906-035

The PR134 is a vital component for late 1970s and early 1980s Volkswagens and Porsches. In these fuel-injected systems, the regulator sits at the end of the fuel rail. If the internal diaphragm ruptures, fuel can be sucked through the vacuum line directly into the intake, or the pressure can spike, causing the engine to run excessively rich and "flood" out.

This regulator is a direct replacement for the original Bosch unit. It features the correct barbed fittings for high-pressure fuel hoses and the specific mounting bracket required for a secure installation in the engine bay.

Product Highlights & Features

  • Diaphragm Strength: Built with modern elastomers that are resistant to the ethanol content in today’s pump fuels, preventing premature failure.

  • Static Pressure Control: Calibrated to the exact PSI requirements of the Bosch L-Jetronic system.

  • Plug-and-Play: No adjustment is necessary; simply install, connect the vacuum line and fuel hoses, and the system is ready to prime.

Technical Specifications

  • Part Numbers: PR134 / 0-280-160-200 / 022-906-035

  • Inlet Type: Barbed Fitting

  • Reference Type: Vacuum

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Safety First: Fuel systems are under high pressure. Always wrap a rag around the fuel lines when disconnecting to catch spray and perform the work on a cold engine.

  • Vacuum Line Check: When replacing the regulator, always inspect the small vacuum hose. If it is cracked or loose, the regulator will not function correctly, leading to poor off-idle response.

  • Prime the System: After installation, turn the ignition to the "On" position several times to allow the fuel pump to build pressure and check for leaks at the hose clamps before starting the engine.
