VW Karmann Ghia Door Checkrod Roller and Pin Kit – 141-256A
Quiet your classic's cabin and ensure smooth door movement with the VW Karmann Ghia Door Checkrod Roller and Pin Kit. This essential hardware kit replaces the internal components that guide the door checkrod strap. Over time, the plastic rollers can flat-spot or crack, and the pins can wear thin, leading to a "popping" or "clunking" sound whenever the door is opened or closed.
The 141-256A kit provides all the necessary hardware to rebuild the mechanism for one or both doors (depending on the specific set configuration). It includes precision-machined steel pins, durable rollers, and the critical tension clips required to lock the pins in place. Refreshing this hardware is a vital step in any door restoration, as it ensures the checkrod strap slides effortlessly without catching or causing premature wear on the strap itself.
Detailed Vehicle Compatibility This hardware set is designed for all Type 14 models across these years:

Installation & Maintenance Tips Clean the Pocket: Before installing the new rollers, use a small wire brush or vacuum to remove old grease, dirt, and plastic fragments from inside the door pillar where the rollers sit.
Check the Strap: Inspect your checkrod strap (Part # 141-253B-L/R) while you have the pins out. If the strap is deeply grooved or frayed, the new rollers will wear prematurely. It is best to replace them as a complete system.
Apply Lubricant: Use a light coat of white lithium grease on the new pins and inside the rollers. Avoid heavy chassis grease, which can attract road grit and turn into an abrasive paste over time.
Clip Installation: The small tension clips can be difficult to seat. Use a small flathead screwdriver or a specialized clip tool to ensure they are fully snapped into the groove on the pin to prevent the hardware from vibrating loose.
