EMPI Adjustable Lowering Strut Housings (1973.5–1979 Super Beetle)

Achieve the perfect lowered look and enhance the handling of your late model Super Beetle! These adjustable strut housings allow you to customize your ride height, offering a drop range of 2 to 4 inches (lowering approximately 3/4" per adjustment notch).

Critical Fitment & Compatibility

These strut housings are sold as a pair and are specifically designed for Late 1973 through 1979 Super Beetles.

• Chassis Requirement: Fits models from Chassis #1333003656 / 1533003656 onward.

• Ball Joint Type: Must be used on models equipped with press-in ball joints. (Early 1973 models used bolt-in joints and are not compatible.)

Required Paired Components

To complete your lowering installation, these housings must be used with the following components:

• Strut Insert: Requires use of EMPI Lowering Strut Inserts (PN: 00-9630-0) (sold separately).

• Springs: Compatible with Stock Suspension Springs (PN: 00-9628-0) (sold separately).

Performance Note

These housings are intended to lower the ride height for improved aesthetics and handling. Smaller tires are required to ensure proper clearance and drivability once the vehicle is lowered.
