VW Fluted Headlight Glass Lens – 111-941-115HF

The 111-941-115HF is a high-quality reproduction glass lens designed for the iconic "sloping" headlight assemblies found on early-to-mid-sixties Volkswagens. This lens features the correct factory vertical fluting pattern, which is essential for properly diffusing the light beam across the road. Unlike modern plastic lenses that yellow and fog over time, this is made from heavy-duty automotive glass, providing superior clarity and scratch resistance.

This lens is a direct replacement for pitted, sandblasted, or cracked original glass. Because it is a separate component from the reflector and chrome rim, it allows for a cost-effective repair of your headlight assembly without needing to replace the entire unit. It fits perfectly within the factory chrome trim ring and provides the authentic "big eye" look that defines the classic air-cooled silhouette.

Detailed Vehicle Compatibility This lens is specific to the sloping headlight fenders used on the following:

VW Beetle (Standard):

  • 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966

Product Highlights & Features

  • Superior Clarity: Provides a crisp, clean look compared to aged or weathered original lenses.

  • Interchangeable: Fits both the driver (left) and passenger (right) side headlight assemblies.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Seal Replacement: When replacing the glass, it is the perfect time to install a new Headlight Lens to Housing Seal. A dried-out seal is the primary cause of moisture buildup and reflector corrosion.

  • Lens Alignment: Look for the small "Top" marking or logo on the glass. Ensure this is oriented at the 12 o'clock position to ensure the fluting directs light toward the road and not into the eyes of oncoming drivers.

  • Cleaning: Use a non-abrasive glass cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals on the chrome rim while cleaning the glass to prevent stripping the plating.

  • Spring Clips: Be careful when removing the wire tension clips that hold the glass to the rim; they are under significant pressure and can snap or fly off if not handled with pliers.
