Front Windshield (Clear) – 111-845-101K

The 111-845-101K is an essential upgrade for any Beetle suffering from "sand-pitting," scratches, or cracks. Over decades of driving, original glass becomes pitted from road debris, which creates a dangerous glare during night driving or in direct sunlight. Replacing your old glass with this fresh, optically clear laminated unit immediately improves visibility and gives the car a "new" feel from the driver's seat.

This glass is designed to be installed using a standard rubber seal and is compatible with both plain rubber or the deluxe-style rubber that accepts decorative aluminum trim.

Detailed Vehicle Compatibility

VW Beetle (Sedan Only):

  • 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964

Product Highlights & Features

  • Laminated Construction: Modern safety standards provide peace of mind while maintaining a vintage appearance.

  • Precision Edge Grinding: Ensures the glass sits comfortably within the window channel without putting undue stress on the rubber seal.

  • Optically Correct: Free from the distortions often found in lower-quality aftermarket glass.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • The "Rope-In" Method: This windshield is installed using the traditional rope-in technique. Place a thin nylon cord into the groove of the new rubber seal, apply soapy water as a lubricant, and have a partner pull the cord from inside the cabin while you apply gentle pressure from the outside.

  • Replace the Seal: Never attempt to install new glass with an old, hardened rubber seal. A new Windshield Seal is required to ensure a leak-free fit and to prevent the glass from cracking during installation.

  • Check the Frame: Before installation, inspect the metal window channel of the body for rust or old sealant. Any high spots or debris can cause localized pressure points that may lead to the glass cracking over time.
