Universal AS41 Magnesium Engine Case – 043-101-025
The 043-101-025 is the latest universal, dual-relief engine case designed for upright air-cooled Volkswagen engines. Cast from high-quality AS41 Magnesium Alloy, this case offers the perfect balance of lightweight construction and thermal durability. It features a medium oil pick-up tube and is designed as a direct replacement for stock 1500cc to 1600cc engines, though its robust casting makes it an ideal foundation for high-performance and racing modifications.
This case comes pre-installed with 8mm steel case savers, providing superior strength for cylinder head studs compared to threads tapped directly into the magnesium. Weighing approximately 25 lbs, it incorporates the dual-relief oiling system for better oil pressure control. It is designed to use the metal cam plug 113-101-157C or a performance aluminum O-ring style plug P/N 16-9524, ensuring a modern, leak-free seal for your build.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

Cam Plug Selection: This case requires a metal cam plug (113-101-157C) or an aluminum O-ring plug. Do not use the plastic or poly style plugs unless specified by your engine builder for this specific casting.

Cleaning and Preparation: Even though this is a new case, always "hot tank" or thoroughly wash the case and blow out all oil galleries with compressed air to remove any machining debris before assembly.

Main Bearing Fit: Check the alignment of the main bearing dowel pins. If they are not perfectly seated, the bearings will spin and cause catastrophic engine failure.

Sealant Usage: Use a high-quality case sealant like Curil-T or Permatex on the mating surfaces. Apply a very thin layer to avoid excess sealant squeezing into the oil galleries.
