Right Tail Light Lens (Amber/Red/Clear) – 113-945-242AE

The 113-945-242AE is a vital part of the lighting system for 1971 and 1972 Beetles. During this era, Volkswagen moved away from the all-red lenses to include an amber section for improved turn signal visibility. This lens is for the right-hand side and is molded to the exact specifications of the original German units, ensuring the mounting screws align perfectly without cracking the plastic.

Whether you are replacing a sun-faded lens or repairing damage from a minor collision, this lens restores the factory safety standards. The clear reverse light section at the bottom is designed to work with standard clear bulbs to provide maximum illumination when backing up.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Check the Seal: When replacing the lens, inspect your Tail Light Lens Trim/Seal (111-945-117B). A dried or cracked seal will allow water to enter the housing, causing corrosion on the bulb sockets and wiring.

  • Avoid Over-Tightening: When installing the mounting screws, tighten them only until they are snug. Over-tightening is the most common cause of "star-cracks" around the screw holes of new plastic lenses.

  • Bulb Inspection: Since the lens is off, take a moment to clean the metal bulb holders with a wire brush or contact cleaner to ensure a strong ground and bright lights.
