Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Clean the Socket: Before attempting to loosen old bolts, use a small pick or screwdriver to scrape the dried grease and dirt out of the Allen socket. This allows the tool to bottom out completely and prevents stripping.

  • No Impact Wrenches: It is highly recommended to start and finish these bolts by hand. Using an impact wrench on a 8mm Allen bolt can easily shock the head and cause it to round out.

  • Torque: Tighten to 25 ft-lb (35 Nm) in a cross-pattern. Re-check the torque after 500 miles of driving, as these bolts are known to "settle" initially.
