VW Fuel Injection Fuel Filter – 311-133-511C

Protect your sensitive fuel injection system with this Premium Fuel Filter. Specifically engineered for late-model Type 3 and Type 4 engines, this filter is a vital component for maintaining the health of your fuel injectors and pump. Because fuel injection systems operate at much higher pressures than carbureted setups, they require a heavy-duty filter that won't burst or leak.

This "canister" style filter features 8mm inlet and outlet barbs, ensuring a secure fit for the high-pressure 7mm/8mm fuel lines used in factory FI systems. Regularly replacing this filter every 10,000–15,000 miles is one of the easiest ways to prevent injector clogging and ensure smooth engine performance.

Detailed Vehicle Compatibility

This fuel filter fits continuously across the following models and years:

VW Type 3 (Notchback, Squareback, Fastback) - Fuel Injected

  • 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973

VW Type 4 (411 & 412) - Fuel Injected

  • 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974

Porsche 914 (1.7L, 1.8L, 2.0L)

  • 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976

Product Highlights & Features

  • High-Pressure Construction: Designed to handle the 30+ PSI required for early VW/Bosch electronic fuel injection (EFI).

  • Direct OEM Fitment: Replaces VW part number 311-133-511C (and cross-references with 311-133-511D) for a perfect fit in the factory mounting location.

  • Precision Filtration: Superior internal media traps even microscopic rust and sediment particles that can ruin fuel injector spray patterns.

  • Durable Outer Shell: Built to resist road debris and vibration, making it suitable for mounting in the factory location near the transmission or fuel tank.

Technical Specifications

  • Part Number: 311-133-511C

  • Inlet/Outlet Size: 8mm (fits 7mm-8mm ID hose)

  • Filter Type: High-Pressure In-Line (Fuel Injection)

  • Shape: Cylindrical Canister

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Direction of Flow: This filter is directional. Look for an arrow printed on the canister body indicating the "Flow" direction. Ensure the arrow points toward the engine and away from the fuel tank.

  • Hose Clamps: Always use high-pressure fuel injection style clamps (smooth band) rather than standard worm-drive clamps. Standard clamps can pinch or cut into fuel injection hoses, leading to dangerous leaks.

  • System Depressurization: Before removing the old filter, be sure to depressurize the fuel system (usually by pulling the fuel pump fuse and cranking the engine) to avoid a high-pressure spray of gasoline.

  • Mounting Location: For safety, ensure the filter is securely mounted and not "dangling" by the hoses. Use the factory bracket or a high-quality cushion clamp to keep it vibration-free.
