VW Front Apron (Replacement Sheet Metal) – 111-805-591C
The 111-805-591C is a structural weld-in replacement panel for the front "nose" of late-model air-cooled Volkswagens. This apron is designed specifically for the updated body style introduced in 1968, featuring the correct stampings for the larger bumpers and the revised hood latch geometry. It is the ideal solution for repairing front-end collision damage or significant rust in the spare tire well area.
Constructed from heavy-gauge stamped steel, this panel ensures that your front hood, fenders, and bumper brackets align correctly to factory specifications. The apron comes with a protective storage coating to prevent surface rust until it is ready for paint and installation.
Detailed Vehicle Compatibility This apron fits the following late-model Type 1 chassis:
VW Beetle (Standard):
-
1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977

Installation & Maintenance Tips
-
Brace the Body: Before cutting out your old apron, ensure the front of the car is properly supported. If the front end is sagging, the new apron will not line up with the hood.
-
Hood Latch Clearance: Temporarily install the hood and the latch mechanism before final welding. If the apron is even 1/4" off, the hood will not close or pop open correctly.
-
Prep the Metal: Sand off the black shipping primer at all weld points to ensure a strong, clean penetration. Use a weld-through primer on the backside to prevent future corrosion.
