Wide Running Board Molding (32mm) – 113-853-555B

The 113-853-555B is the definitive trim piece for any high-quality pre-1967 Beetle restoration. The 33mm width is a hallmark of the earlier cars, transitioning the visual line from the front fender to the rear fender. Because running boards are prone to road debris and moisture, these moldings often become dented or scratched over decades of use; replacing them is one of the fastest ways to sharpen the exterior appearance of your Volkswagen.

This molding is designed to slide onto the outer edge of the running board. While it is technically listed for 1953–1966, it can be used on any year Beetle running board if you prefer the look of the wider vintage trim over the thinner late-style versions.

Detailed Vehicle Compatibility

VW Beetle (Standard):

  • 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966

Product Highlights & Features

  • Heavy-Duty Construction: Thicker gauge material than budget alternatives, ensuring the molding remains straight and resists "waving" once installed.

  • Universal Fitment: The symmetrical design allows the same part number to be used for either the driver or passenger side running board.

  • Enhanced Curb Appeal: Instantly upgrades a standard running board to the "Deluxe" look found on high-end vintage models.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Slide-On Installation: This molding typically has the mounting clips slide into the channel and then the clips are pushed through the running board and twisted to secure the molding to the running board.

  • End Alignment: Ensure the molding is centered perfectly before securing the ends. The ends of the trim should align flush with the curves of the front and rear fenders.

  • Maintenance: To maintain the high-gloss shine, use a non-abrasive metal polish. Avoid using steel wool or harsh chemicals that could cloud the polished surface.
