Right Inner Tie Rod End (with Damper Bushing) – 113-415-813DIT

The 113-415-813DIT is a vital component for the 1966 through mid-1968 steering geometry. On these models, the steering damper does not attach to the spindle or the axle beam directly, but rather to this specific tie rod end. If your steering feels "shaky" or you are experiencing a front-end shimmy, a worn ball joint in this tie rod end is often the culprit.

Because this is a safety-critical steering component, the Italian-made version is preferred for its tighter tolerances. The internal ball and socket are precision-machined to ensure that your alignment stays true and your steering remains responsive under all driving conditions.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Chassis Break Note: 1968 was a transition year. If your 1968 Beetle was built after mid-year (chassis #118 857 240 and later), you may require the later style tie rod ends with a different taper. Always check your chassis number before ordering.

  • Count the Turns: When removing your old tie rod end, count exactly how many full rotations it takes to unscrew it. Thread the new one in the same number of turns to keep your toe-in alignment close enough to drive to the alignment shop.

  • New Hardware: Always use a new Locking Nut, nut is torqued to 22 ft-lb (30 Nm).
