85.5 mm Piston & Cylinder Kit (PN 311-198-069FT)

This complete kit includes pistons, cylinders, rings and all necessary hardware for upgrading or rebuilding VW 1300–1600cc engines to an 85.5 mm bore. It’s engineered to work with stock 69 mm crankshafts and delivers increased displacement while maintaining factory compatibility.

• 4 cast aluminum pistons (85.5 mm)

Performance & Compatibility

• Bore size: 85.5 mm

• With this bore, 1300 or 1500 VW engines convert to around 1600 cc (VW rounds up) 

• Fits many VW models with 69 mm cranks, including Beetle, Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 2 Bus, Type 3, and Thing across various years 

Notes & Tips

• The kit ships with piston rings installed into the pistons, but they should be removed and clocked properly before final assembly.  In 1300cc builds, you’ll need larger heads (1500/1600) to accommodate the larger bore; 1500-1600 engines won’t need head machining.

• Verify cylinder outer diameter: approximately 89.5 mm at the base, 94 mm at the head interface with the case bore.
