VW Bus, Type 3 Headliner Support Bow – 20-2011
The 20-2011 is a specialized restoration component for all years of the VW Type 2 Transporter. Because the Bus has such a large roof surface area, these steel bows are vital for maintaining the structure of the headliner. They slide into the "sleeves" sewn into the back of the headliner material and then snap into the factory mounting holes along the roof's inner longitudinal rails.
Sold individually, these bows allow you to replace only the specific rods that are damaged. They come in a standard 60-inch length which covers all positions from the front cabin to the rear hatch. Because they are made of raw steel, they can be easily cut with a hacksaw or heavy-duty wire cutters to match the exact dimensions of your original rods.

Installation & Maintenance Tips
-
Measurement Tip: Do not discard your old bows until you have used them as a template for the new ones. Mark the center point of the new bow to help center the headliner during installation.
-
End Protection: After trimming the bow to length, it is helpful to file the cut ends smooth or dip them in a bit of rubber coating/electrical tape to prevent them from snagging or tearing the delicate headliner sleeves.
-
Rust Prevention: Even though they are interior parts, a light wipe with a silicone-based protectant before installation can prevent surface rust caused by roof condensation.
