Brake Light Switch Connector Plug (3 Terminals) – 113-945-525

The 113-945-525 is a vital electrical component for Volkswagens manufactured from 1967 onward. When VW transitioned to dual-circuit master cylinders, the 3-prong switch became the standard to allow for a brake failure warning light. Because of its location near the front axle, the original plugs often become brittle or filled with grime, causing "phantom" warning lights or intermittent brake lamp failure. Replacing a damaged housing with this factory-correct part restores the integrity of your safety wiring.

This plug is the correct fitment for late-model Beetles, Super Beetles, Buses, and Karmann Ghias.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Identify Your Circuits: When wiring this plug, ensure the center terminal and outer terminals match your harness diagram. Swapping the brake light and warning light wires can cause your dash light to stay on permanently or prevent your tail lights from working.

  • Seal the Entry: For maximum longevity, use a small amount of heat-shrink tubing on the wires where they enter the back of the plug to keep road grime from working its way inside the housing.

  • Verify Switch Prongs: Before ordering, look at your master cylinder. If your switch has only two prongs, you need part number 111-945-525 instead. This 3-terminal version is specifically for "warning light" equipped switches.
