Main Fuel Line (Through Tunnel) – 111-209-211B

The 111-209-211B is a foundational component for a reliable fuel system. Over fifty years, original steel lines often accumulate internal rust or "varnish" from sitting with old fuel, which can lead to persistent carburetor clogging and fuel starvation. Because this line is hidden within the tunnel, a pinhole leak can go unnoticed until fuel vapors begin to enter the cabin. Installing this fresh steel line ensures a clean, leak-free path for your fuel.

This line is compatible with the vast majority of "Standard" Beetle chassis from the early 1950s through the mid-1970s.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • The "Fish-Tape" Method: To install this line without removing the body, use a heavy-duty plumber's fish tape or a long piece of wire. Feed the wire through the tunnel from the rear, attach it to the new fuel line, and carefully pull it forward through the narrow exit holes.

  • Replace the Grommets: Never run a new metal fuel line through the tunnel exit holes without new Chassis Fuel Line Grommets (111-209-189A). Without these rubber insulators, the vibration of the engine will cause the steel line to rub against the chassis, eventually wearing a hole through the pipe.

  • Flush Before Final Connection: After the line is pulled through but before connecting it to the carburetor, pump a small amount of fresh fuel through it into a container. This ensures any dust or debris introduced during the "fishing" process is cleared out of the system.
